I did very Porsche things today

My mother in law had her 60th birthday party on a big honking boat on the fanciest lake in the area. So naturally, I needed to drive the Porsche. I recently pulled my window regulator and had it repaired and then I put it back in and I also replaced a door latch so I can use the soft top and lockup my car. I drove my mother in law home from the party, as it only seemed fitting after her fancehhhh party to ride in the drop top, and apparently she has been dying to ride in it . The boat was fun, the lake was nuts in its extravagance, and my kid was exhausted from all the fun.

Here it is in my in laws driveway, with the top down but the windows up cause my daughter's hair was going crazy.

Love that color combo. My least favorite thing about the 996 is actually the interior, after 2 986s, can’t stand it, so goofy looking...

Thanks! I like the grey interior on brighter blues and reds. But I do like this color.

I like the interior, steering wheel is nice, gauges are good, leather everywhere. But I’m biased and lots of people share your opinion. Shrug.

Durability or performance?

For me durability has been good. But I’ve only had the car a short while and I got it from an Oppo who blew his engine while tracking the car. I  swapped a 3.2 from a boxster s in to save some pennies and that engine has slightly better durability from internet speculation.

For performance, I think this engine in a 996 rwd coupe would be pretty damn spot on for power but with the weight of the cab and the losses for the awd it feels maybe just a little down on power in my car . But it’s still quick, the shifter is good and the sound is great.
